WTC Final: Gutted and Glad
Absolutely gutted for India yet truly glad for NZ for finally winning an ICC trophy.
Kane Williamson was splendid on field with the captaincy as well as the bat while Taylor bringing his experience into play when it mattered to see them through. Jamieson’s raise in test cricket has been phenomenal and his bowling spell shall be a preview to what he’s going to achieve in the forthcoming years.
I have no problem with Kohli’s captaincy who showed much better planning and execution on the field. Yet as a batsman, the failure of the senior players is a serious dent on the chances of India. Rohit losing out on starts, Pujara and Rahane not putting their experience to use, Jadeja’s brain fade to expose the tail to the NZ bowlers in the first innings are some major concerns that lead us to our downfall. While Shami and Ashwin were brilliant with the ball, Bumrah’s form is a major problem considering the tough English summer that’s ahead.
There can be multiple ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ that would have steered us towards the victory yet none of it would matter now. End of the day, all it matters is who comes out better and it’s Newzealand this time. The deserving and better team of the two that contested.
Kudos Kiwis!
