Dear Virat Kohli,

I’m a big fan of Dhoni and his captaincy. He was the biggest superstar and my first favourite when I got introduced to cricket. However, I wouldn’t shy away from accepting the complacency of Dhoni in test cricket. He couldn’t solve the riddle of winning overseas test and frankly speaking 2011-14 is the nightmare period for Indian test cricket piled up by back to back series loss in overseas, hell even we lost to England in home.

Gladly, you took over the captaincy and you were forced to be reckoned with in test cricket. You lead the team by an example with stupendous batting record. It was your impetus to fitness that has made us what it is. You solved the riddle which Dhoni couldn’t solve by implementing the pace bowling culture to win overseas tests. Shami, Bumrah, Ishant, Siraj, Umesh and Shardul all shone brightly under your captaincy and thanks to you, there’s more groomed in domestic circuits. Winning overseas tests weren’t any more a Problem and there was hope in Indian cricket.

India became Invincible in test cricket. The main man behind the scenes was you, Captain Kohli. When you are on field, you have been a different animal. Even if you are fielding all day, I have never seen your energy drop down even one bit. You have been such a great player’s captain who defended your player like no other captain has done. The Siraj incident is a great example to the same. Not 90s or early 2000s is the Golden period of cricket, it’s 2015-2021 that will go down as the Golden period of cricket. Indian cricket peaked in that period.

Kohli, you may not have an ICC trophy but you will be the best captain to captain India in tests. Love you, King👑

Thank you for everything!

Yours faithfully,

A true MS fan!
