Srilanka put Pakistan and Bangladesh to shame: Writeup/Rant/Roast on the funniest T20I game
**Traveling and not really sleepy, so just a small writeup/rant/roast on tonight's game**
Funniest T20 game I have followed in a long time.
Srilanka have had embarrassing outings against India in the WC and Asia Cup final last year but today's performance tops it off and is one of the hall of shame performances from the lankan tigers.
Bilaterals have gone irrelevant for a long time now and much less are the importance of dead rubber games these days. "Nope, we are saving cricket" a dialogue usually uttered by the pompous Brits but Srilanka put it in action, they made an absolute mess of an easy chase that would put Pakistan, Bangladesh and South Africa to shame.
They required a mere 30 off 30 with 9 wickets in hand. There's no Bumrah in the team and I legit believed surely Srilanka can't lose here. But, what do I know? Srilanka chose to shoot in their legs with two quick wickets to Washi and spicing up the proceedings to 21 off 18.
SKY turned towards the pacer Khaleel, the left hander had a bad day and was bowling very poor that dropped the required runs to 9 with 12 balls.
SKY then tapped his inner Dhoni "Legends would have asked me to go with pacers but I had other choice". He made Rinku bowl the 19th over, well what do we get or more like what does Srilanka do, lose two wickets to freaking Rinku Singh who hasn't bowled a single ball in international cricket until then.
Well, 6 off 6 now. SKY again switches on his crazy side open and bowls himself in the final over. The clown of a team in the name of Srilanka decides to lose two more wickets to drag the game to the superover. A game that should have been won with an over to spare.
Okay, srilanka can still win this. Pitch is tough, even 10 runs can be a daunting total. SKY bowls Washi ahead of the premier option of Ravi Bishnoi. To no one's surprise anymore, Srilankan lost 2 wickets in 3 balls with the score of just 2 on the board. It was a good bowling from Washington but it was more on poor batting that led to this joke of a performance.
SKY doesn't sweat anymore. He has given enough chances for the lankans to win. He walks out to open. Theekshana is the bowler and Surya sweeps nonchalantly that passes via the gates of the short fine leg to the boundary and India completes a comedy win.
If such a game were to happen in IPL, fixing allegations would have been made. But, since it's Srilanka, everyone seems to agree in unison that they are capable of such shameful performance.
The joke of a game was so funny that the usually grumpy and strict Gambhir was laughing. The funnier and much more satisfying image of the night was to see Sanath Jayasurya go all sad with the performance of the Srilanka.
An inconsequential dead rubber game providing so much entertainment, long live the sport!
