Shadow and Bone: Fantasy tale that’s worth your time
A fantasy series set in the 19th century based on the Grisha Novels trilogy which explores the journey of Alina Starkov who discovers her power to summon light.
The major positives were the grandeur, perfect casting, and a promising plot that has enough depth to have its own fan base. Jessie Mei Li portraying Alina Starkov (a biracial) who actually is biracial was a spot-on casting. The environment was brilliantly set that brought the 19th-century flavor on screen while the perfectly staged fantasy scenes add up as well to the pluses.
Yet, on the downside, the sequences seem to be hurried up and the confusing screenplay at places dented the watch. The lack of emotion except for that between the lead actors was very much visible. Despite this, the show is visually splendid with a good plot that has the potential to become a franchise of its own. Needs to be seen though.
