Pathaan — SRK’s action extravaganza in an extremely cliched story

I like Shah Rukh Khan and I have found him a charming actor since long. The rich legacy of his works aided in making me root for him to give a comeback in the Bollywood industry.

Pathaan is a commerical come back for SRK who fills the movie with his extremely class and mass demeanor that makes the money worth it. The movie is an action extravaganza that defies science and logic but weirdly enough I found them entertaining. It's sometimes okay to have a hero who can do superhuman things.

Shahrukh Khan in his strong zone of action hero excels well in towering the movie on his shoulder. He is 57 years old but his agility in action scenes is excellent that would doubt if he is an age fraud by any chance. He has space to score in comical and emotional sequence and he does that flamboyantly like a Kohli cover drive.

Deepika Padukone as the female lead was adequate. She has a role to play but her motto is extremely diluted. Besharam Rang on big screen was extremely good. She was hot as hell. John Abraham plays the villain in the movie. He has tried to add dimensions to his character but that doesn't work much on screen as he comes of as a stupid villain who narrates his plans to the hero. His motto for being the baddie isn't satisfactory as well.

I have watched this director's previous movie "War" starring Hrithik Roshan and Jackie Shroff. It was a real good flick and I didn't guess the final twist that helped the movie very much. Pathaan although falters in being extremely cliched. The story, screenplay and even action sequences remind me of Misson Impossible movies(or generally any Hollywood action flicks). Except for the interval surprise(which as well was well on cards), it doesn't try anything new. The logic as well goes for a ride that after a point it becomes the least of your concern.

But what really works in Pathaan is the execution of the cliched story. We know what's going to happen but it's presented in an entertaining way that saves us from being tired out of the proceedings. VFX was meh while I kinda dug in the BGM work, songs were okayish. Stunt sequences in the movie will make you go Wow and as well say OVOP.

~𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹, 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗻𝘇𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀𝘆 𝗦𝗥𝗞 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵!

I had mentioned Pathaan to be a commercial comeback for SRK. Commercially, Pathaan will do wonders at box office for sure and is a hell of treat for SRK fans. But critically, Pathaan is a mid movie that suffers with age old troupes. Intrigued to see how Atlee presents SRK in Jawaan.

#Pathaan
