Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning 1
Tom Cruise is often called as the last of his kind action hero in the hollywood industry. This installment of Mission Impossible is yet another testimony to the said statement as the actor is at his fantabulous best, even after serving the franchise for over 2 decades.
Though the outline is similar to other movies,
Dead Reckoning is more gritty and psychological than other movies in the franchise that adds a new nuance to the characters and what's at stake. As mentioned above Tom Cruise is at his best as Ethan Hunt who does mind-blowing stunts that would make us question his age. Tom Cruise is more than his stunts and those who watched his non MI movies would know that, this movie gladly allows Tom Cruise to express himself a bit more. It was pleasant to see the usual suspects of Benji, Ilsa and Luther in their roles. Hayley Atwell is a welcome addition to the franchise as Grace.
The story though seems simple, Director Christopher McQuarrie enhances it with his engrossing screenplay that continues to hold our attention almost to its entirety. Speaking of story, it reminded me a lot of the "Person Of Interest" TV show which shares a similar crux with the movie. The selling point of the franchise is Stunts and the movie has some spectacular stunt sequences that would make the audience's jaw drop to the floor. Technical aspects are excellent as usual.
Nothing much of a downside in the movie except a few like stretched out action sequences and the improper tempo of the movie.
