Hate Parag at your own peril
I have come across a lot of hate on Parag for being expressive without knowing his worth. Guy hails from Assam, not so lavish state like Maharashtra Karnataka or Tamilnadu. First of all it's a commendable achievement to become a regular in the team for the background he hails from.
Parag is one of the raw player who can slog the ball hard and hit the big sixes. Yes, his form this season has been abysmal but if people dig through his past records and domestic exploits, the hate wouldn't be this much.
Riyan Parag has played around 4 match winning Innings so far for RR. Everyone remember the SRH game. SRH were one of the toughest bowling unit last year. RR were reeling after losing their top order, Parag and Tewatia played a marvelous innings to win the game for RR.
Even in 2019 season, Parag played 2 match winning Innings against the mighty Mumbai and KKR. In the same season, his 49 ball 50 was the reason RR limped to 110+ in a game against DC.
On digging deep, the hate on Parag is not for performing it's for being an expressive youngster. He's just 19 years old and has achieved some success in his career, he's enjoying it with dances and celebration on the field. Why is it burning for the people watching? Who designated what players should do and they shouldn't?
This is similar to Kohli hate that he recieves from cricket purists(Poms and Aussies) for being spirited on cricket field. Cricket is a game after all and it needs to be appreciated for a youngster like him enjoying the same while majority of his age group would face stress and pressure. Stop with the stereotyping of how a player should be. Everyone is different, just 'cause your favourite legends weren't expressive doesn't mean others should follow the same path.
Riyan Parag is a future star who will rule the Indian middle order in about 3-4 years in limited overs format. Give him some time, he will come good.
Better to stop on the hate on the little guy now than to have your ass burn in the future. Choice is yours!
