Happy Birthday, Kohli

It's 2012, India are playing a tri-series with Srilanka and Australia. They have got themselves in a tough situation where in they have to win their league match against Srilanka in under 40 overs to gain the bonus point and stay in the tour. Srilanka make the task even difficult by posting mammoth 320 on the board.

With the odds stacked against us, the hopes were down. Yet, India went on to win the match and even better under the required 40 overs while toying with the likes of Malinga across the ground. The fighter, the chaser and the champion who did the impossible was our very own Virat King Kohli. Although he had been in the circuit for around 5 years by that time, I believe this match was the arrival of Kohli to the international cricket.

Kohli is one gun player you wouldn't like to mess up with. The batsman who gives an authority while batting, the player who implicates "never say die" attitude and above all a wonderful human being who stands for his team mates and what's right.

Kohli is special once in a blue moon player who will forever stay in the legacy of India Cricket History. He revolutionized Indian cricket not only with his batting but with his captaincy. Yes, he is yet to win an ICC trophy for senior team but no trophy would justify what he did for Indian test team. The 2 series wins in Australia, the overseas victories that were a distant dream and above all he injected the fighting spirit that we are no lesser than any team and will go down even if we can't winning.

Kohli might not have been at his best in the recent past yet the records and achievements are some excellent unbelievable things that no one will be emulate for atleast next few decades. We may undermine his work by recency bias but If anything I'm sure it's that Kohli will leave a huge void when he hangs his boots.

I'm personally not a big fan of Virat Kohli but will forever be indebted to his invaluable contribution to the Indian cricket.
