*Mild Spoilers Ahead*

A doctor and a family tries to rescue a kid who then get entangled into larger network of kidnapping. The consequences and their journey forms the crux of the movie.

Sivakarthikeyan has a peculiar portrayal of a emotion less practical doctor unlike from his other films and makes it work for most parts. He’s called as "Ilayathalapathy" funnily for having large set of family audieny, but he sure did felt like Vijay in song sequences with his dance and body language. Priyanka Arul Mohan as the female lead is suffice for the film and its a fine debut in Tamil.

The casting of other actors like Archana, Deepa, Redin Kingsley and Yogi Babu is to perfection which makes the movie cross half the sea. Yogi Babu in particular was on fire in the movie with his one-liners. A fine movie for him after lot of garbages in the recent past. Special mention to the actor who acted as Mahaali's brother, steals the show in whichever scene he appears.

Moving on to the story, the plot is straightforward and yet the presentation is what makes the movie work. The wacky characters, quirky settings and engaging screenplay work in the favour of the movie. Director's biggest weapon is Humour who uses it to perfection in move the proceedings.

Coming to Rockstar Anirudh, I couldn’t have been more happier for him. Sivakarthikeyan had said in an interview that Anirudh is the soul of the mocie . He’s literally the second hero of the movie(quite literally as his name appears second after the name of the hero) who shoulders the movie whenever it drags. The BGM work is outstanding. The reprise of 'Nenjame’, the funky music in second half in Villains place and the soul of doctor theme in the climax are some testimonials to his splendid work.

Coming to the shortcomings, the movie has quite too many logical flaws. The irking flaws are very much visible and the believability gets dented. Since the movie gets started right away, it doesn't have time for characterisation and we just have to get on with it. The frequency of laughs in second half deter a bit and the elusive "plan" in the second half test our patience. Climax as well feels diluted and surely it could have been handled well. The said weaknesses hinder the watch yet as it's wrapped with Anirudh's terrific BGM helps as a diversion to the same.

Overall, the movie works for major parts and I could literally see lots of audience genuinely enjoying the movie. This is quite a comeback for SK after underwhelming Hero and a promising preview for Nelson's Beast with Vijay.

~Good watch!
