Avatar 2: Visual marvel that will leave you bedazzled
Watched Avatar 2 aka The Way of water last night and it was a memorable experience that left me amazed albeit the minor flaws.
First things first, Avatar 2 is a visual treat to the eyes that is sure to leave us bedazzled. As Avatar 1, Avatar 2 also takes its own time to set up the plot and characters. It's slow but it's not boring, I was very much engaged for the first half as the proceedings kept me hooked.
The second half is where the action is and it sure does drop our jaws to the floor. The way it has been picturised, shot and presented is terrific. Not just the second half, I'm astonished by how the scenes, places and shots would have been visualised in the director's head. Our brain is an intricate thing, it can imagine things in different ways that is sure a surprise on how it happens. But what the visuals in Avatar 2 provides is on whole different level, I mean while it is a incredible task to do pitch perfect VFX, I'm more wondered by how this would have been visualised.
There is a meme template that goes like "Unga moolaya kalatti thanga muththam kudukanum(Remove your brain and give it to me, I want to kiss)". Such was the imagination of James Cameron and it was presented in the best possible way to make us go awe.
The story is similar to the first part but more revenge driven however there's layers to the story. There are new aspects that effect the story and keep the screenplay interesting despite being predictable. I couldn't judge the characters for their performance. I loved the subplots in the movie that in a way helped for the character development for the characters.
The emotions are very important for any movie to work for the audience. Avatar 1 was a visual marvel and everything is fine but what made the movie such a terrific hit was the core emotion in it, we rooted for the Pandora people and the rooting for the good and wanting to end the villains come only when the emotion is handled effectively.
Avatar 2 as well ticks the emotions box. Avatar 2 deals a lot with the story and arc of the kids of the protagonists. Not one but there are 5 kids in the movie and they play their part perfectly. Their lives were portrayed well and we go along on adventures with them in the sea like they go and we cautiously hope they don't land in any trouble. I am lauding the emotion so much coz the proceedings in the second half is on predictable lines but still it impacts.
On downside, the climax is slightly disappointing for the way it's handled. The same accounts for the lengthy feeling towards the end and it could have been trimmed for a compact experience. I'm more intrigued to see how the story proceeds forward in the upcoming sequels.
~overall, an excellent big screen experience that’s definitely worth the money.
