The 12 year unbeaten streak in home has been broken by a substandard Newzealand side. As much as it stings to accept, NZ outplayed India in almost all the departments in both the tests.
This defeat is as big as November 19. The pride that was held as unbeaten in home is broken. The magnitude of the loss is yet to to be felt but this is a magnificent win from the Kiwis.
As for India, we can convince ourselves saying we are in the transition stage yet that doesn't warrant for 46 all out or 156 all out in both the tests. The senior players have been missing for a while now and it was the lower order carrying them. The wheels are prone to come off and it has happened today.
As much as I want some heads to roll over this defeat, the team will not be disturbed till the end of this WTC cycle. As for BGT, the hopes are at an all time low and will be a miracle if we manage to win atleast even one game.
Rohit has had some success but it's Gambhir who is off to a disaster start. He lost the ODI series against Srilanka after 27 years, lost a home test against NZ after 38 years and now has lost a home series itself. The ice is getting thinner and will most probably break if the team fails in CT 2025.
Kohli has been living off his reputation for too long and as mentioned above he will sustain till this WTC cycle. After that, it's not looking good bruv. Ashwin whose bowling has regressed to noticeable levels will feel the heat too. Atleast for the batters, they will play the BGT. Ashwin and overseas tours have been a spicy affair and it's going to be impossible for him to prove his worth if he wants to continue. But, honestly he was horrible in the both the tests. Maybe it's time!
Tough times ahead for India.
P.S.: Real glad the streak is not broken by Aussies or England. The PR and the articles would have been insufferable.
