𝗔𝗮𝗱𝘂 𝗝𝗲𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗺(𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯)

Aadu Jeevitham has been watched. An experience of a movie that narrates the story of an innocent protagonist facing a lifetime of struggles after getting stuck in a foreign country.

Aadu Jeevitham is an earnest attempt in translating the novel of the same title to the screen. Prithviraj is the soul of the movie who has given an award-worthy performance, living the character to the fullest. The struggle he faces in the unforgiving desert, the inability to act or do anything and the resolute to keep going, Prithviraj's portrayal as Najeeb Mohammed is one for the ages.

The next positive aspect of the movie is the technicalities that were on par with Hollywood. The cinematography Sunil K S captures the endless desert brilliantly, certain shots were really breathtaking. The usage of wide shots in the second half was terrific. ARR’s music is another backbone. He does excellently in melancholic scenes where the hero has no avail to the torture he goes through. However, there are certain scores that did feel out of sync with the movie.

Among the performances, Jimmy Jean Louis as the supporting character was great. In an era where most of the heroines are usually eye candy and hardly act, Amala Paul felt natural as the female lead. She comes hardly 20 minutes but does well with effective performance.

With regards to direction, it's a mixed bag. My friend who had read the novel said the movie concentrates more on the desert part than his life among the goats. I for one found his struggles among the goats repetitive. The second half was more engaging with the story moving forward. The movie also lacks in conveying the emotion to us. As much as the experience is world-class, the struggles of the protagonist doesn't land on the viewers as it should. The movie whose main theme is to explain the struggles faced in foreign countries, it doesn't really explain the process fluently.

I watched the movie in tamil as I didn't want to look clueless as Najeeb Mohammed without understanding the language. Despite that, I felt clueless as there were no subtitles for certain Arabic dialogues. Nice touch.
